Sarai's Light Foundation (SLF) is a registered charity established in memory of Sarai Doyinsola Talabi. We are working to improve understanding and outcomes for people affected by Renal Medullary Carcinoma through research, education and awareness, and support for individuals and families.
Sarai was just 17 when she was diagnosed with RMC, an extremely rare and aggressive kidney cancer. Her experience revealed how little awareness there is of RMC and its relationship with the sickle cell trait. Sarai's Light Foundation was created to help change that. Sarai's Story →

Our purpose is to raise awareness of Renal Medullary Carcinoma and sickle cell trait, support research and those affected by these conditions, and encourage greater blood donation, particularly within communities where it is most needed.

Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC) is a rare and aggressive kidney cancer that predominantly affects young people and has a strong association with the sickle cell trait.

Sarai Doyinsola Segiola Talabi was a daughter, sister, friend, student and passionate cook. Known to many as Chef Segicooks, she found joy in cooking and sharing food with others and dreamed of making a difference in the world.
Sarai passed away on 21 February 2025, just months after first becoming unwell. Sarai's Light Foundation carries her name and her light forward through work intended to make a difference for others affected by RMC.
Awareness matters. Understanding RMC, its symptoms and its relationship with the sickle cell trait is an important part of our mission.
